πππππΌCONNECTING TO GOD’S AGENDA
Text: Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” (KJV)
1. INTRODUCTION: WHY GOD’S AGENDA MATTERS
One of the greatest frustrations of life is working hard but working outside God’s plan. Many people are busy, gifted, prayerful, even religious, yet disconnected from what God is actually doing.
God does not merely have ideas; He has an agenda.
And destiny is fulfilled when human alignment meets divine intention.
Jeremiah 29:11 reveals:
God plans intentionally
God’s agenda is peaceful, purposeful, and future-oriented
The tragedy is not lack of prayer, it is misalignment.
2. WHAT IS GOD’S AGENDA?
Definition
God’s agenda is His eternal, sovereign plan for:
Your life
Your generation
“My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure.”
“According to the purpose of Him who works all things after the counsel of His own will.”
God’s agenda is:
3. CONTEXT OF JEREMIAH 29:11 – A CRITICAL INSIGHT
Jeremiah 29 was written to Israel in captivity, people who:
Were displaced
Felt forgotten
Thought God had abandoned them
Yet God said:
“I KNOW the thoughts I think toward you…”
Powerful Truth:
God’s agenda is often working strongest when circumstances look weakest.
“For He does not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.”
4. CHARACTE0RISTICS OF GOD’S AGENDA (Jeremiah 29:11)
1. God’s Agenda Is Intentional
“For I know the thoughts…”
God is never confused about your life, even when you are.
2. God’s Agenda Is Peaceful
“Thoughts of peace, not of evil”
Peace here (Hebrew: Shalom) means:
Wholeness
Completion
Nothing missing, nothing broken
3. God’s Agenda Is Redemptive
Even when suffering exists, God is working toward restoration.
“I will restore the years…”
4. God’s Agenda Has an Expected End
“To give you an expected end”
This means:
A future with direction
A conclusion with glory
A destiny that makes sense in hindsight
5. WHY MANY PEOPLE MISS GOD’S AGENDA
1. Personal Agenda Competes with God’s Agenda
2. Impatience with God’s Timing
3. Lack of Spiritual Sensitivity
4. Fear of Surrender
Key Insight:
You cannot follow God’s agenda while insisting on controlling the outcome.
6. BIBLICAL EXAMPLES OF PEOPLE WHO CONNECTED TO GOD’S AGENDA
Joseph (Genesis 37–50)
Betrayed, delayed, but aligned
His suffering positioned him for purpose
Esther (Esther 4:14)
Positioned for a generational assignment
Silence would have aborted destiny
Jesus Christ (John 4:34)
“My meat is to do the will of Him that sent Me…”
Jesus never rushed, never lagged, He moved by divine agenda.
7. HOW TO CONNECT TO GOD’S AGENDA
1. Seek God Before Making Decisions
2. Align Your Prayers with God’s Will
3. Embrace Process, Not Just Promise
4. Walk in Obedience
8. PRACTICAL SIGNS YOU ARE ALIGNED WITH GOD’S AGENDA
Peace even in pressure (Philippians 4:7)
Clarity replaces confusion
Doors open without manipulation
Your life blesses others, not just you
9. BIBLE STUDY QUESTIONS (FOR PERSONAL OR GROUP STUDY)
What is the difference between God’s plan and personal ambition?
Why did God speak hope to Israel while they were still in captivity?
How can delay be part of divine design?
What areas of your life need realignment?
How does surrender unlock destiny?
10. PRAYER POINTS: CONNECTING TO GOD’S AGENDA
Father, open my eyes to Your divine agenda for my life (Ephesians 1:18)
Every personal plan competing with God’s will, be uprooted in Jesus’ name
Lord, align my thoughts, desires, and decisions with Your purpose
I reject confusion and receive clarity of direction
Let every delay work together for my good
Father, give me grace to wait without wavering
I disconnect from wrong associations and wrong paths
Restore every year lost outside divine alignment
Let my life fulfill its kingdom assignment
I declare: I will arrive at my expected end, in Jesus’ name
11. PROPHETIC DECLARATION
Declare this aloud:
I am not an accident.
I am not late.
I am not confused.
I am aligned with God’s agenda.
His thoughts toward me are peaceful.
My future is secured.
I will arrive at my expected end,
In the mighty name of Jesus. Amen!
12. CLOSING EXHORTATION
God’s agenda is not discovered by haste, it is revealed through relationship.
The safest, wisest, and most fulfilling place to be is inside the will of God.
“Teach me to do Thy will; for Thou art my God…”
