Opening Scripture References
- 1 Corinthians 15:1–27
- John 1:19–29
- 2 Corinthians 11:22–23
- James 2:23
THE QUESTION THAT DEFINES DESTINY: WHO ARE YOU?
In John 1:19–23, the priests and Levites asked John the Baptist, “Who are you?”
This question is not casual, it is destiny-defining.
- If you don’t know who you are, people will define you.
- If you don’t define yourself, situations will redefine you.
- Identity confusion leads to destiny destruction.
John answered clearly:
“I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness…”
He knew:
- His identity
- His assignment
- His limits
WHO ARE YOU? (Spiritual Identity)
(A) Who Are You According to God?
From 1 Corinthians 15:10:
“By the grace of God I am what I am…”
You are:
- A product of grace
- A carrier of divine purpose
- A solution packaged in human form
(B) Who Are You According to Your Assignment?
Paul said in 2 Corinthians 11:22–23:
“Are they Hebrews? So am I…”
Paul understood:
- His spiritual lineage
- His calling
- His capacity
Your assignment reveals your identity.
THREE CRITICAL IDENTITY QUESTIONS
1. Who Are You?
Your true identity is in Christ, not in background, failure, or opinion.
2. Who Am I?
Personal reflection: Am I living according to God's design or people's expectations?
3. Who Do People Call You?
People may call you:
- Failure
- Poor
- Nobody
- Ordinary
But God calls you:
- Chosen
- Friend (James 2:23 – Abraham was called Friend of God)
- Righteous
- Purposeful
YOUR VALUE, POTENTIAL & SOLUTION CAPACITY
(A) Your Value
- You are not cheap, you were bought with a price.

Inside you are:
- Gifts
- Ideas
- Solutions
- Influence
Potential undiscovered = Destiny delayed.
(C) You Are a Solution Provider
Every human is sent to solve a problem.
Ask yourself:
- What problem am I created to solve?
- Who benefits from my existence?
IDENTITY DETERMINES ASSIGNMENT, ASSIGNMENT DETERMINES DESTINY
- If identity is wrong:
- Assignment will be wrong
- Destiny will be misdirected
- If identity is correct:
- Purpose becomes clear
- Direction becomes easy

Reasons:
- To avoid living another person’s life
